With everything going on in the world right now, our ability to make plans has come to a grinding halt. It’s as if our world has stopped spinning for a moment, and we are all simply left taking things one day at a time not knowing what the future holds. It’s a hard place to be. Truth be told, none of us can know the future. But we certainly like to make plans. And to suddenly find ourselves in a situation where we can no longer make them is hard. It makes us feel like we have lost control. But here’s the hard truth… we never had control. The Bible tells us that God makes plans for us. And while man certainly has the freedom to not walk in God’s plans, as children of God, we are given the opportunity to walk in the wonderful plans God has for our lives. (Proverbs 16:9)

God has created us for good works. He has a plan for our individual lives.
For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them. – Ephesians 2:10
Good works don’t have the ability to save us. But the truth is that once we are saved, our lives should be marked by them. Why? Because it’s one of the reasons God created us and saved us. He has a purpose for our lives.
Because of free will, God won’t force you into doing good works. But as Believers, we GET to do good things for God. It’s a privilege and responsibility that shouldn’t be taken lightly.
God has a plan for mankind, and it is good!
For whatever is born of God overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. – 1 John 5:4
When you look around at the current state of our world, this may be a difficult truth to embrace. But the truth is that God has good plans for His kids. We will be victorious in Jesus’ name! Will the enemy try to thwart God’s plans with plans of his own? Of course! But the Bible is clear that his plans will not succeed.
God has a plan for a glorious future, even if in the moment we don’t see it yet.
And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose. – Romans 8:28
As Christians, we get to be a part of God’s ultimate plan for all of mankind. We are given the opportunity to spread the Gospel and to advance God’s Kingdom. Yes, it’s true that God has plans for our individual lives. But we must be careful not to focus solely on ourselves. We are in the middle of a much bigger plan… one that spans all of eternity!
Think about it this way. You were born at the time you were born so that you would be exactly who you are now. Today.
With everything going on in the world right now, I can’t help but think about my kids. They will never forget this time in history. This time in history will shape their future in ways I don’t even see yet. God has a plan for their lives, and everything they learn during this time will help to shape their decision making.
Nothing we go through in life is wasted. God uses it all and weaves it into His plan for our lives.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight. – Proverbs 3:5-6
As the weeks and months go by during this significant time in our history, let’s choose to use it the best way possible. Take this time to study God’s Word. Spend time in prayer. Connect with those you may not have connected with in a long while (from a distance, of course!) Then ask yourself… Are we living in fear or hope? Are we worried about what the future holds? Or are we trusting God’s plan through it all?
