Why You Need God’s Peace to Accomplish Your Destiny
If I were to ask you what it takes to accomplish your destiny, what would you say? What first comes to mind? Hard work. Dedication. A plan of action. What about peace? Does peace even come to mind? Probably not. But the truth is that God’s peace is an essential part of walking in our God-given identities. And if you’re not walking in your true identity, accomplishing much for the Kingdom will be extremely difficult… if not impossible.

- We never accomplish much in the midst of chaos. I see this in my own life in a very physical way. When my house is in disarray, I struggle tremendously with my to-do list. I don’t even know where to begin! But when I work in a clean and organized environment, something just clicks. I can think more clearly and accomplish so much more in the process. Now, I can’t promise you there won’t be chaos in your life. Sometimes our struggles feel like a tornado of debris swirling around us. But that’s the beauty of God’s peace. It surpasses all understanding and allows us to think clearly… even in the storms of life.
- When we abide in God’s peace, we are able to focus on what really matters. A while back, my hometown experienced a severe wind storm. The power outages alone were astounding. (Ours was out for five days… many endured longer.) I remember looking outside at the massive pine trees near our home. I was so worried they would come down, as many of the trees in our neighborhood had. Meanwhile, my family was inside the house trying to find light, heat, and food. What was truly important in that situation was for me to be a mother to my children – to calm their fears and to feed them. But instead, I stared at those trees in worry. More often than not, we do this in our own lives. We allow our fears to distract us from what we should be doing.
- If you want to accomplish your destiny (and I assume you do), you need to be able to focus on the things that matter most. Storms have a way of stealing our attention. Don’t let them.
- When we choose peace, we are choosing to rely on His strength and provision rather than our own. The Bible teaches us that God’s peace is freely given to all who become children of God. It is a naturally produced fruit of the Holy Spirit in our lives. So for the Believer… peace is a choice. We can choose to abide in the peace God has given us, or we can live in a place of worry and fear. I don’t know about you, but choosing peace is something I have to do throughout my day. But I am finding that the more I choose to abide in His peace, the easier it becomes to live in it.

Tackling your work is so much easier when you’re well rested. We accomplish so much more! And not only do we accomplish more, we tend to do so with joy in our hearts… we actually enjoy our work when we are working from a place of rest. (Some would argue that working from a place of rest isn’t really work at all!)
This one of the reasons why God’s peace is so important. He longs for you to work while abiding in His peace so that you can accomplish your destiny in Him.
When we are resting in God’s peace, we are able to accomplish even more for His glory.
